About Klassified

Last updated 14 October 2026

Klassified sends a note or a file as a one-time link. Your browser encrypts it before upload, the decryption key travels only in the link (or, with a password, stays with the people who know it), and the stored copy is deleted once it has been opened or has expired. We built it so that passwords, recovery codes and private documents do not have to sit in chat histories, mail archives, logs or AI digests.

Who runs it

Klassified is a product of MAIN OÜ, a private limited company registered in Estonia under registry code 11272196, Soosepa tee 46-2, Pärnamäe küla, Viimsi vald, Harju maakond, 74020, Estonia. It is designed and built by , who also writes our guides. The company's other work is at mainly.art.

Klassified runs in the browser at klassified.app and as desktop apps for Windows (from the Microsoft Store) and macOS. It used to live at classified.mainly.art; old links still redirect here.

How it is funded

Notes are free and need no account. File sharing needs a verified account, with a free allowance and paid plans for more. The free service is designed to be supported by advertising, shown only on informational pages such as How it works, Security and the guides - never on the pages where you create, open or download a share, never on sign-in, account or legal pages, and never to paying subscribers. Ads cannot reach the content of a share, because it is decrypted only in the recipient's browser. Where the law requires it, Google's consent message asks before any advertising cookie is set; you can change your choice at any time with "Privacy choices" in the footer. Details are in the privacy policy.

How we write about security

Everything we publish about how Klassified works is meant to match the shipped code. The security page lists the exact cryptographic parameters, and the guides say where the protection stops as well as where it holds - one-time reading is a strong default, not a guarantee; a link without a password is itself the key; the endpoints always see plaintext. When a page and the product disagree, the product is right and the page is a bug: tell us at support@klassified.app and we will correct it.

The rules we enforce

We built Klassified to protect ordinary people's privacy, not to help anyone hide a crime - the way a road is built for travel, not for smuggling. We cannot read what people share, so we cannot screen it. What we can do is set clear rules and act on reports: the acceptable use policy lists what may not be shared, and Report abuse explains how to report a share, send a copyright notice or reach us as an authority, and what we do in response - deleting the stored data and closing the accounts behind it.
